Illinois Valley Fishing Report 5/21

White bass are still doing well on blade baits and spinners.
With the river dropping rapidly look for fish at the mouths of tributaries and in the eddies around bridges. Some small sauger are still being caught on the flats trolling crank baits such as flicker shads and shad raps.

Crappie are hit and miss with the cold fronts moving threw but
a few big fish are still being caught. Work the fallen trees with a jig and minnow and be patient. Fishermen are taking sauger on the weed edges in 12 to
15 ft. of water. Try drifting a 1/4 oz. jig and minnow or leech along the weed line.

Catfish are taking dip baits and night crawlers all along the canal, but below the spillways and whistles is your best bet for active fish.
Large mouth bass are doing well on spinner baits cast along the shore.
