Illinois Valley Fishing Report 5/28

White bass are still doing very good with some big fish
being taken around the bridges and creek mouths. Spinners, blade baits
and jigs are all catching fish as well as live bait. As the water warms
look for fish up on the flats , trolling  crank baits or floating slip bobbers
a few inches off the bottom will take fish.

Crappie, stripe bass and saugeye are all being caught in
the brush in 6 ft. of water. The crappie and stripe bass are running good
size but the saugeye are just short of the 18" min.. Fish a small to med. size
minnow 3' to 4' below a bobber and be patient.

Bluegill are hitting wax worms and trout worms with most fish
running 5 to 7 inches. Catfish are taking dip baits and chicken liver all
along the canal. Fish the locks and whistles for good action.
