Illinois Valley Fishing Report 6/18

Although the river is flooded and has most people
looking for fish elsewhere, a few fisherman are finding catfish and
carp in the backwaters. Frozen shrimp and dip baits are taking the
catfish with canned corn the no1 bait for carp.
Bow fisherman are lining the banks up and down the river shooting
carp in the backwaters. The fish are plentiful and the action is fast,                                       but make sure to get permission from the land owner first.

With the constantly changing weather fishing has been
slow but a few fish are still being caught. Crappie and Bluegill have
for the most part moved to the deeper water weed edges and points.
Drift a minnow and split shot close to the bottom in 15 to 30 feet
of water. Musky fishing has been a little slow but reports of a few
smaller fish coming on buck tails, with black the primary color.
